JTS CX505 Clip-On Snare/Tom/Percussion Mic:
The CX505 is a miniature condenser microphone designed for use with not only snares and toms within a drum kit but, thanks to it's versatile clamping system, also with many other types of drums and percussion, including congas, bongos, timbales, etc.
Versatile, Speedy Clamping System
The CX505 employs a miniature threaded G-clamp style mounting system. Simply position the mic at the rim and tighten up the clamp. It's quick, simple, works with almost any snare/tom and the rubberised jaws mean it won't damage the rims of your expensive new kit! The innovative, adjustable, jointed arm then allows optimal positioning of the mic whilst keeping it to the side of the drum, out of the way.
Noise Isolating Shockmounting.
The CX505's integral shockmounting system minimises unwanted stage vibration and noise.
Rugged, Unintrusive Design
A flexible section towards the end of the adjustable arm means that the CX505 can effectively absorb accidental hits and the small unobtrusive design makes it a small target.
We think durability is the achilles heel of most budget clip-ons. One particular manufacturer we can think of used a large rigid cheap plastic clamp which would break almost everytime it was hit. Not good.
Sound Quality.
Condenser-type capsules offer a higher frequency response than dynamic types and also can offer greater sensitivity and sound pressure level in a smaller capsule size. So the CX505 captures all the overtones and harmonics of modern drums and percussion whilst handling the high sound pressure levels required (up to 130db). Phantom power is required to power the microphone
